Meet Me In™ Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende, México Cultural Tour (Choose up to 8 days)

Guanajuato is without a doubt a top destination for cultural tourism in Mexico where grand history lives! It stands out as the single one state in the country to have two cities officially listed as World Heritage Cities by UNESCO: Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende. By simply walking down the street at any destination of choice, you will find the “life of the people,” festivals, cultural events and unique architecture and numerous historical and age-old customs present in the state.

Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende are the heart of México where present day México began with the Mexican Independence War in 1810 in the town of Dolores Hidalgo through La Ruta de la Independencia (The Route of Independence) to San Miguel de Allende and other towns. The cities are a 1 hour and 45 minute drive apart.

Guanajuato is a UNESCO World Heritage site of enchanting underground pedestrian streets, alleys, baroque and neoclassical architecture, and former silver mining shafts such as 'Boca del Infierno' (Mouth of Hell) that plunges a breathtaking 600 meters/1,969 feet. The streets are lively with a large university student population. Guanajuato is famous for its nightlife, the romantic and bohemian bars, walkable plazas, tunnels and alleys. An overlook of the historical center gives a full, open breathtaking view of the entire valley city, hills and colorful architecture.

San Miguel de Allende has been rightfully named one of the most beautiful cities in the world with it’s iconic St. Michael Archangel Parish neo-gothic 17th century church (Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel) visible from the enchanting hilltop and colonial, baroque architecture around every turn, street and alley. San Miguel de Allende is one of the safest cities in Mexico with a large international community, and a mixture between pop culture, art galleries, artisanal crafts, glamour, and relaxing and bohemian atmosphere. Bernell King

"I took a deep dive into the history on the tour of the Route of Independence from Guanajuato to Atotonilco, found local spots where locals go, walked and wandered Guanajuato until 3 am! It is truly a special, authentic Mexican area and a must visit in all of Mexico."

I love Mexico and it continues to wow me with the uniqueness, culture and warm people in every state I've explored! I'm grateful for my Mexican friends sharing their homes, families, way of life with me and of course, gastronomy with me! I am passionate about traveling like a local with locals. My life and relationships have been deeply enriched by over 23 years of experience in international business, coaching, consulting and training of expatriates, executives, families and children from around the world and travel to explore world cultures. I have traveled to 15 countries, over 200 cities and I speak 3 global languages: English, Japanese and Spanish.
