The Meet Me In™ the Land of Waterfalls Cultural Tour in Pisgah National Forest & Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina, USA. It is a water and nature lover's playground! This tour takes you to the beautiful Pisgah National Forest, which spans over 500,000 acres of land and boasts of 83 cascading waterfalls, mile-high peaks, and scenic hiking trails.
Pisgah National Forest includes Native American Indian Traditional Cultural Properties and Sacred Sites, areas that have ascribed Tribal importance and require special considerations and management. Pisgah is also known as the birthplace of modern forestry in America, as it was the first tract of land purchased to create national forests in the eastern United States. The forest is primarily a hardwood forest, and nearly 100,000 acres of it, located near Asheville, were once the property of George W. Vanderbilt and part of Biltmore Estate, which is the site of America's Largest Home.
On this tour, you will explore the vast natural beauty of Pisgah National Forest and the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway. The parkway is a scenic drive that spans 469 miles and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, forests, tunnels and valleys. You can hike along the numerous trails (easy to moderate) that wind through the forest, such as the Graveyard Fields Trail, which takes you to a beautiful waterfall and an alpine meadow, or the Looking Glass Rock Trail, which rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to easy hikes to waterfalls to view, wade and jump from. You can also visit the Cradle of Forestry in America, a historic site that offers a glimpse into the rich history of forestry in the United States.
Apart from the natural attractions, this tour also allows you to experience the unique culture and cuisine of the region in Brevard and Asheville, NC. In your free time, take a day trip to the charming town of Asheville, which is known for its vibrant art scene, historic architecture, craft breweries and Biltmore Estate (America’s largest home). The town offers plenty of free activities, such as visiting the Asheville Urban Trail, a 1.7-mile walking tour that takes you through the town's history and culture, or exploring the River Arts District, where you can see local artists at work.
Other free activities in the area include visiting the Folk Art Center, which showcases the traditional crafts of the southern Appalachians, or exploring the North Carolina Arboretum, a 434-acre public garden that features a wide variety of plant species.
This Meet Me in the Land of Waterfalls Tour in Pisgah National Forest & Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina, USA is an ideal tour for those seeking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the region, and experience its unique culture and cuisine. Whether you want to hike along scenic trails, drive along the parkway, or explore the charming town of Asheville, this tour has something for everyone.
