Machu Picchu & Cusco Peru Immersive Cultural Tour (8 days)

Delve deep into millennial cultures, present-day local communities, and breathtaking natural beauty on this cultural tour in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire, is a city that exudes a unique charm and mystique. Without any contact with the Western world, Peruvian civilizations developed in a unique way, living in harmony with nature and developing their own sciences and artistic achievements. A recent analysis of DNA of individuals buried at Machu Picchu reveal that the population was diverse people from various regions within the Inca Empire as far as Amazonia.

Despite the advent of conquistadores and then globalization, indigenous cultures proudly preserve their idiosyncrasy, regularly enhanced through festivities but also practiced in their everyday lives. Cusco or Qosqo in Quechua language (meaning navel of the world), is an open air museum! Cusco’s majesty reaches 11,152 feet / 3,399 meters above sea level. The blend of its colonial architecture and Inca ruins make it an incredibly interesting place to explore around every corner, and every crevice from top to bottom. During this immersive cultural tour, we will go beyond the typical touristic sites, deeper into the Sacred Valley, and take to the Inca Trail to meet and engage with local people in their communities to learn and experience their way of life, culture, nature, gastronomy, and ancient practices.

Situated very close to Cusco and culminating at an average altitude of 9186 feet / 2800 meters, the Sacred Valley of the Incas is commonly presented as a 61 mile / 100 kilometer fringe stretching from Pisac to Machu Picchu and following the course of the Urubamba River. The Incas appreciated the valley for its geographical and climatic characteristics as well as for its fertility and it has been very well preserved. Today you will still find many communities dating back to the Incaic era, speaking Quechua and still living mainly from agriculture. You will be able to visit them and share in their daily life with the inhabitants available during the treks and visits of the Sacred Valley.

You will live an amazing experience in the heart of splendid scenery between history, culture, archaeological sites and breathtaking natural panoramas. The Cusco region is a perfect place to disconnect, refresh, explore nature and relax.

Of course, the highlight of this cultural tour is the visit to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World . We will follow the Urubamba River by train to Aguas Calientes and from there take a bus to the top of the mountain where the citadel is located. You will have the opportunity to walk through the ruins, learning about ancient life, science, beliefs, and the true history. Undoubtedly, you will feel the energy and history that emanates from this majestic place.

Every opportunity we get, we will delight in authentic Peruvian cuisine , a unique blend of indigenous and colonial influences, resulting in a diverse and flavorful culinary tradition. Among the most distinctive dishes are those made with Guinea pig and alpaca meat, which are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Guinea pig, known as "cuy" in Peru, has been a staple of Andean cuisine for centuries, while alpaca meat has gained popularity in recent years for its lean and tender qualities. These dishes offer a unique and unforgettable gastronomic experience that reflects the country's rich cultural heritage.

Join us on this unforgettable journey to Cusco and Machu Picchu, the richest cultural city in South America where you will be enchanted by the Andean spirit, the stunning landscapes, and the rich cultural heritage of Peru. You can also connect this tour to our Lima & Southern Coast of Paracas, Ica, Nazca, Peru Tour and save $150 USD!
